Here's one of the most spectacular tulips of them all. So it's no wonder it's in the Biltmore group. Monsella is one of the group called "Waterlily Tulips", and you can see why. The fully double, huge blooms open wide and create a true sensation in the garden. This tulip provides about 3 times the color of other tulips, and adds the bonus of fragrance, too. Since it's a "Kaufmaniana Tulip", that means it's earlier than most, and also has its large flowers on shorter stems. It'll make a big show anywhere, but is best at the front of the garden. Monsella blooms with the late daffodils, and leads the tulip parade. No garden should be without it!
