Now you can add the savory flavors of fresh herbs to all your cooking. It's so easy - here's all you do: Place good soil into 5 small pots (or even tin cans or any other containers), then scatter seed on top of the soil in each. Next, compress seed into the soil, water carefully, and place planted pots in a sunny window. Keep moist until seedlings appear; then water only as needed. Begin harvesting leaves and sprigs after plants are somewhat sizable. As you harvest leaves, others will appear, providing you with an almost endless supply of fresh herbs.

Dill. One of the all-time most popular herbs, dill is fun and easy to grow-in your garden or in a pot on a sunny windowsill. The aromatic young branches are used to flavor salads, pickles, vinegar, sauces, soups, stews, and chicken, lamb and fish dishes. Packet is 400 mg.

Coriander. (Also called Cilantro.) This is one of the top herbs used in innovative contemporary cooking. It's also very easy to grow. Gather leaves and use them whole, fresh or dried, on fowl, meats and other spicy dishes. As seeds ripen, gather them and use them whole or crushed on pastry, beans, stew, sausage, and fish. Packet is 500 mg.

Sweet Basil. Here's another herb that's more popular every year. Basil's aromatic leaves have a spicy, clover-like flavor great for tomato dishes, soups, stews, spaghetti, fish, poultry and salads. Packet is 400 mg.

Parsley. Everyone knows parsley as a garnish, but it also has a wonderful flavor. Great for almost everything from sauces to gourmet fish dishes. It'll make an attractive, deep green, frilly plant on your windowsill, but if you set some of the root outside, you'll have it every year. Packet is 300 mg.

Chives. An all-time favorite, this relative of the onion is great for flavoring any dish that needs a "zing." Tasty in soups, on vegetables, and also in sauces, you can gather chives, chop them, and use your imagination. They improve almost any dish. The plants also reward you with lovely purplish flowers, which are also edible-a great accent on salads! Packet is 400 mg.
Large packet includes one packet each of the following herbs. These are all favorites that will thrive both in the garden or in pots inside:

  • Dill
  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Coriander (cilantro)
  • Chives
