Hardy Hibiscus

Hardy Hibiscus

The sensational Hardy Hibiscus hybrids, a stunning class of plants from our wildflowers.

Hibiscus Lady BaltimoreNot to be confused with the smaller tropical houseplant varities, these hibiscus hybrids are hardy for gardens into zone 4. Created from a few little-known wild hibiscus species from North America, these mid-size shrubs light up any yard where they're planted.

The beautiful photo at right is of "Lady Baltimore," (see below) and it was taken by Professor Wm. C. Welch at Texas A&M University. Dr. Welch, a landscape horticulturist, is an expert on these hybrids, and that beautiful hibiscus plant is in his own yard in Texas.
