"Hardy Gloxinia" is not a gloxinia at all, but has been given that common name due to the luscious large flowers, somewhat like the famous potted plant. The flowers of Incarvillea are almost identical to those of some of the famous tropical flowering vines, since they are close relatives. If you know blue Thunbergia Vine or pink Mandevilla, those blooms are very similar to these. And if you know those stunning flowers, you can imagine the magnificent show this little plant can make in a perennial garden.

This perennial is native to the Himalayas, but does very well in gardens everywhere. It needs fast-draining soil.
