Peonies

A unique addition to perennial gardens, peonies can last for generations.

If you live in the zones where peonies thrive, you're in luck. They're best in cold-weather areas, but most do fine down to Zone 8. For ooohs and aaahs every year, peonies only ask for full sun and good soil. Once established, peonies create a fountain of glossy green foliage with colossal flowers that require almost no care. In fact, many perennial peonies live over 100 years, so when you plant one, you're really starting something.

Comments about American Meadows Oriental Hybrid Lily Bulbs Casa Blanca - Bag of 2:

I'm a begginner when it comes to gardening. I just love how easy it is to grow these flowers. I give them to friends and also give the address of American Meadows. Every year I get more and more blooms. I think the most I got on one stock was 8 blooms. They are wonderful.

Comments about American Meadows Geranium sanguineum - Plant:

The Geranium Sanguineum has a lot of pluses. It looks good through the growing season. It is lovely in the fall. It tolerates hot dry conditions. I've found it to be excellent on embankments because its root system helps keep the soil from eroding.

However, in none of the books that I'd read did it tell me that it could be invasive. Perhaps this is because it is most often grown in the UK in more clay acidic soils which are not its favorite conditions?

In any case my garden soil is very sandy and not acidic at all and the cranesbill geranium adores it. I have them everywhere! Even growing in the pure sand between my patio bricks! This is fine on embankments and most areas in my yard but not when it is trying to take over my perennial borders.

Please note: The white variety (geranium sanguineum "alba") has been well behaved, as have other varieties in the family. It is only the magenta variety that has become very prolific to the point of me considering it invasive. I find digging it up once it is well established is difficult due to its spreading tuberous root system, so don't let it get out of control if your conditions are similar to mine.

Comments about American Meadows Oriental Hybrid Lily Bulbs Stargazer - Bag of 2:

I ordered these as wedding favors for our guests. The bulbs were enormous, and some were already growing. Guests from three states and several different zones described getting multiple beautiful blooms on each stem the first year they were planted. Although the deer ate ours last year, we're looking forward to many beautiful flowers this season.

Comments about American Meadows Gaillardia grandiflora Goblin - Plant:

Very nice plant, it's already 3 times the size and already blooming. Very beautiful flower. The only thing i wish is for the flowers to be bigger, which i think it will happen once it grows more.

I highly recommend this one, it is the only one blooming of the bunch i ordered this spring.... and it was part of my last order.

I also noticed that it is pest resistant, there is something chewing on all of my plants, except for this one.

          Will be getting more.

Vinca right for the right place

                  By Nicky2

                  from Boston, MA

Comments about American Meadows Vinca minor - Plant:

Vinca is great where it can be controlled by an edge. I use it, bordered by bricks, with my clematis. It covers the clematis roots and keeps them cool which they like. This spot is in full sun, which I know is not the recommended use, but it's gorgeous and really does its clematis job. Once a year I clean up any vinca that try to go beyond the edge.

The Lilium Henryi bulbs I received from American Meadows were the largest and most beautiful bulbs I have ever seen, without a doubt! Bigger than the palm of my hand! Some showed double flower sprouts, Some were about 4 inches across the top and one was 5 inches. Already new roots too. They are in the ground growing and I am just waiting for July to see the big show they will put on.
