Elegant Baptisia is one of our loveliest native wildflowers, with even more beautiful recent hybrids. If you have a space with full sun and fast-draining soil, this is your plant. Tall, elegant spires of flowers rise in spring, and create a beautiful floral focal point for beds and borders.
There are several wild species including the famous "Wild Indigo." Everyone compares Baptisia to Lupine, and they are somewhat similar, both in the pea family. But the flower spikes of Baptisia are more elegant and airy, and the Baptisia plants are more long-lasting.
