This is the annual version of the familiar native “firewheel”. Common names range from Indian Blanket to Blanket Flower to others. This species, like its perennial counterpart, can add brilliant color to any meadow. See G. aristata, perennial.

Type : Annual. Lives just one year. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, dies with first frost. Can regrow following spring if seed falls on bare ground.

Bloom Time : Mid and late season
Flower : Daisy-like
Sun/Shade : Needs full sun.
Soil Preferences : Hot, dry, sandy conditions are best, but this species is adaptable.
