"Russian Mammoth" is one of the true garden giants, growing up to 14 ft. But the flowers, which range from 12 to 14" across are still lovely, with lush golden petals and centers that are not so filled with seeds that they topple over. This one is a giant beauty, and makes a spectacular, fast-growing screen or background for your garden.

Botanical Name: Helianthus annuus

Common Name: Sunflower, Russian Mammoth

Type: Annual - lives only 1 year. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, then dies with frost. Regrows strongly from seed dropped in fall.

Color: Large yellow flowers

Height: 144-180" tall (12-15' tall)

Bloom Time: Days to germinate: 10-14 depending on soil and weather conditions. Days to maturity: 80. (summer until frost)

Flower: Blooms can reach up to 14" in diameter.

Sun/Shade: Full sun

Soil Preferences: Sunflowers grow in almost any soil.

Moisture Requirements: Average moisture, well drained. Heat and drought tolerant.
