Also known as "Tahoka Daisy", this spectacular American wildflower is not really an aster at all, and blooms earlier than that large family. The blooms are a lot alike, however, with yellow centers and almost "electric" blue/purple rays (petals).
*recently reclassified as Machaeranthera tanacetifolius.

Common Name: Prairie Aster

Type: Annual. Lives just one year. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, dies with first frost. Can regrow following spring if seed falls on bare ground.

Height: Up to 18" tall

Bloom Time: Mid to late season

Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade

Soil Preferences: Prefers light, sandy soil

Where To Grow It: All regions of North America

How To Grow It: Very easy to grow. Forms a short, bushy plant
