Aster tanacetifolius* (A)
Prairie Aster

Also known as "Tahoka Daisy", this spectacular American wildflower is not really an aster at all, and blooms earlier than that large family. The blooms are a lot alike, however, with yellow centers and almost "electric" blue/purple rays (petals).
*recently reclassified as Machaeranthera tanacetifolius.

Common Name : Prairie Aster
Type : Annual. Lives just one year. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, dies with first frost. Can regrow following spring if seed falls on bare ground.
Height : Up to 18" tall
Bloom Time : Mid to late season
Sun/Shade : Full sun to partial shade
Soil Preferences : Prefers light, sandy soil
Where To Grow It : All regions of North America
How To Grow It : Very easy to grow. Forms a short, bushy plant
