If you've ever been to Arizona, New Mexico, or So. California in February or March, you know this golden beauty. Not well-known outside the desert regions, it's one of the ones that creates incredible color when the desert blooms. A neat plant with wonderful daisy-like flowers, it's an example of a wildflower that deserves a place in any garden.

Botanical Name : Baileya multiradiata
Common Name : Desert Marigold
Type : Annual. Lives just one year. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, dies with first frost. Can regrow following spring if seed falls on bare ground.
Height : 1-2' tall
Bloom Time : Mid season
Flower : Daisy-like
Sun/Shade : Full sun
Soil Preferences : This beautiful species prefers sandy soil and as its name implies, can tolerage blazing summer temperatures.
Moisture Requirments : One of the big stars of North America's early desert bloom, this cheery annual will be happy to bloom for you almost anywhere, as long as it is planted in sharp-draining soil.
