Aster novae-angliae is also known as New England Aster, a native that reliably feeds bees and monarch butterflies. Large, showy purple blooms last from summer till frost. Grows up to 6 feet tall.

Aster novae-angliae is also know has New England Aster is a critical source for pollinators in the fall especially the monarch population. It feeds them while other sources become scarce before they migrate in the fall. Different than others, New England Aster loves to grow in moist, but well-draining soils, open areas, in full sun to partial shade. They are deer resistant and great for a cut flowers.
