Comments about American Meadows Blue Wildflower Seed Mix:

Wanted to reduce my carbon footprint so decided to turn large area into a natural meadow. Took great care to properly prepare the area...cut all the sod out with professional sod cutter, tilled the soil, and then scattered the seed mix carefully following the instructions. Knew to expect annuals the first year and await the perennials for the future. Very very sparse evidence of any flowers mostly a field of weeds. Tried to manage the weeds but that was really beside the intent as I have plenty of other beds that necessitate regular maintenance and had hoped the flowers in the field might be prolific enough to diminish the prevalence of weeds. Very disappointed!

Comments about American Meadows Blue Wildflower Seed Mix:

Perhaps the Blue color will shine through in subsequent years. Only an orage flower was produced. Very pretty though...

The garden was to have blue and red flowers. The red flower order worked out well. Does not contrast well with the orange in this spot. So I am a bit disappointed.

Needed to fill in a difficult space that, I am told, had once been a garage. These wildflowers are thriving and gorgeous. I wish all my "experiments" turned out as well.

Comments about American Meadows Blue Wildflower Seed Mix:

I planted this mix near my patio. It was not the best choice. It did attract a huge number of bumble and other pollinating bees and that was good to see. But the plants became quite rangy and messy looking as they grew. Finally they sort of fell over under their own weight and height. Did not last into the Autumn. I did get some nice cut flowers out of this mix, but when we went to cut them down for the Autumn, one of the plants (I don't know which one) peppered my son (who was doing the yard work) with burrs. I spent a great deal of time removing them from his shorts, shirt and shoes. The dog gathered them in his coat as well. This mix would be better for a more remote area of one's garden, where a messier look or the burrs and bees don't matter. It does attract a lot of bees, and butterflies, too, but especially bees.

Comments about American Meadows Blue Wildflower Seed Mix:

My order arrived in a timely manner. I couldn't of been happier. I ordered the south west mix, the native southwest, mix and this blue wildflower mix. I planted all the seeds at one time(actually my kids planted them!) and I got such a lovely array of different flowers coming up at different times. I had many people ask me where I bought the seeds.

I live in Phoenix and these did well!

Comments about American Meadows Blue Wildflower Seed Mix:

I just threw this mix all over the yard--we have intense sun in some areas and part shade in others, but poor, clayish soil everywhere (Zone 10b--but we get frost as we're in a coastal canyon). I wasn't particularly optimistic when I tossed it in in early March (a week or two before our last frost) but now, in late April, there are sprouts everywhere and some of the California Bluebells, Baby Blue Eyes, and Arroyo Lupines have already begun to flower! Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

            USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

            • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
            • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
