Description

Growing Bearded Irises These majestic flowers are surprisingly easy to grow, and actually require less attention than almost any other garden flowers. Your iris roots will arrive with the foliage "trimmed" from this spring's growth. You'll find the "root" is not really a bulb, but what is called a "rhizome"--an irregularly shaped bulbous root that grows at a right angle from the foliage. Leave the trimmed foliage as it is, and simply bury the rhizome with the top of it showing through the soil surface. Bearded irises grow best with the tops of their rhizomes exposed.

Next spring, new foliage and the flower spikes will sprout strongly from the rhizome. What's more, next summer, you'll notice the rhizome multiplying for even more flowers as years go by.

Comments about Bearded Iris Parisian Dawn, Bearded Iris Parisian Dawn:

This is the only one of my bearded Iris that I've purchased that bloomed the first year follwing transplatation into the garden. The blooms were es gorgeous as the picture on the web-page. And what a treat having three blossoms open at one time on the flower stalk. Hopefully my expectations won't be too high for next year since this Bearded Iris 'knocked our socks off' this year!! And the Orange Harvest (2nd year) bloomed for the first time this year and there must have been close to 20 blooms on the spike over the course of a month's time. The flowers just kept coming and coming over and over again and the range of colors it translated in photos was from a salmony-pink color in the early morning haze one day to various shades of yellow to orange. One night I used the camera flash and the blooms lighted up red against a black background; pretty wild and exotic!! Your bearded Iris tubers/ rhizomes are both larger and less expensive than the local nurseries/ garden shops and much finer/ healthier quality. How much do I appreciate your products? I ordered 4 new varieties this year thus doubling the size of our collection. Bravo American Meadows, bravo for selling top quality, unbelievable prices and fantastic customer service (You made it easy when I changed my mind twice in the past and updated my order)
