Description
This is the only meadow clover we recommend. Do not confuse it with the tough perennial red clovers or others used commonly as cover crops in agriculture—these clovers can quickly dominate a meadow. Annual crimson clover grows easily, and adds deep red blooms on short attractive plants, without crowding out other flowers.

Comments about American Meadows Crimson Clover Seeds:

Stunning color. Great natural remedy for soil (nitrogen fixer). Excellent growth. Not deer-resistant.

          It's thriving in our climate.
Planted: fall 2013 and again spring 2014.
          Hardiness Zones: 8a - 9b.
Sun: both full sun and partial shade.
Soil: in both loamy and clay-loam.
          Drainage: adequate.
          Soil pH: unknown.

Have yet to see if it will reseed itself if left unmown/ungrazed, but outlook is good. No biggy if it doesn't, as it is resonably priced.

Comments about American Meadows Crimson Clover Seeds:

As a landscaper for over 14 years I used to focus on killing clover that plagued nice lawns. I recently started raising rabbits so I thought clover would be a nice treat for them. I planted this clover early spring by tilling the soil, hand spreading the seed and walking the seed in. The clover came up pretty impressively and I did have some red flowers but it wasn't as colorful as I would have liked. The rabbits didn't seem to care for it much so I let my ducks have at it. I think I will try the white clover next time.

Comments about American Meadows Crimson Clover Seeds:

I bought this a couple of years ago as a cover crop for my garden. I scattered the seed, and then the wind blew, as it usually does in Southeast Idaho. Next spring, I had crimson clover in my flower beds, but it is pretty enough to grow as a wild flower. This year I am sowing it between rows in my vegetable garden as a cover crop. It has come up well, and doesn't seem to mind being walked on.
