Parsley is one of the herbs that is really beautiful in the garden with its deep green frilly foliage. And it's good for more than just garnish. For example, great fish recipe sauces using parsley in a big way are in most every cookbook.

When and Where to Plant: Soak seeds for 24 hours then plant in sunny location as soon as soil can be worked. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food. Firm soil over seed. In the fall set young plants in pots and grow on window sill indoors.
Care: Keep soil moist, clean and feed every 6 weeks.
Harvesting: For best flavor, pick early in the morning. Flavoring improves with successive cuttings.

Pros

  • Came up in pot
  • Easy to Grow
  • Love the flavor

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Mainly grow to dry
    • Use fresh in salads

Comments about American Meadows Curled Parsley Seeds:

I usually like to grow parsley in the ground. We live in South Texas and this year (2011), we've experiences a record breaking drought. I put the seeds in pots in a partly sunny area instead of in my full sun garden. They did very well. Every time parley is trimmed more stems come up. I like to grow certain herbs to dry and keep for cooking. Parsley is one of them. I use it fresh on certain salads and it's a treat to put fresh parsley (I use dried also) in meatballs.

    Fantastic product

    By

    from South Florida

    Pros

    • Butterfly larvae food
    • Extremely prolific
    • Sun or Part Shade
    • Very easy

    Cons

    • 1 oz is a LOT of seed

    Best Uses

    • Can get 3 or 4 crops
    • Cooking
    • Feeds butterflies
    • Surprising ground cover

Comments about American Meadows Curled Parsley Seeds:

Triple curled parsley is hard to find, either in seed form or in the grocery store. However, if you have a butterfly garden like I do, it is a MUST for butterfly larvae. I grow one or two bowls of it JUST for them to eat. I also grow more for my personal use. Sow it where it is to grow and I found no need to thin (they must push each other aside!) Great product for hot places.

    USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

    • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
    • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
