Comments about American Meadows Deer Resistant Wildflower Seed Collection:

Planted all the seeds per directions nothing but 1 flower. I planted at the same time in each area a test plot of Big box generic off the shelf encap wildflower and they all grew. did this in 2 different areas. I ordered. 4 different types of seeds mixes with complete failures or seeds. I suspect they had to be dead seed from age or improper storage. Posted this bad review because this company never returned my email complaint. I recommend you buy the seeds they bash that contain filler because they grow.

      Deer resistant flowers work!

      By

      from Gretna, VA

Comments about American Meadows Deer Resistant Wildflower Seed Collection:

I planted them 2-3 years in a row and they worked perfectly. Then I mixed them with other varieties of flower seeds to get more color, etc. The deer actually laid down in the middle, a doe and 2 fawns, and ate all but the ones that were resistant. I thought maybe the restisant ones would keep the other ones "safe" from the deer but I was wrong.

The deer usually eat anything I plant. I mixed with some other seeds, the deer did not eat them a first for me.

      USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

      • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
      • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
