Comments about American Meadows Double Tuberosa The Pearl:

I ordered three packages of these and split them in packs and gave them to 4 people that had gone to Hawaii together. We all had great results! I odered them at the end of March and they were at my door within 2 weeks and were planted within a few days. Having a short growing season, we all wished that they arrived much earlier. The package says about 120 days to bloom. Not in Minnesota...it took at least three more weeks for us. 5 bulbs developed spikes and bloomed by the end of the first week in September. (We are hoping for more to develope) They smell just like the Hawaiian Lei that was given to each of us in Hawaii. Now we each have Hawaii right here in Minnesota! I can't wait until next year for them to bloom all over again! I will start mine in the house in early March. I have put these flowers in the bathroom and in the living room and the smell is fabulous!

        USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

        • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
        • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
