Description
These are the ones called Snow Crocus for obvious reasons. They bloom well before the Dutch Crocus, so for a long season of crocus bloom, plant them both. They work almost exactly the same. Unlike the Dutch crocus group of hybrids, these are true 'wild bulbs'--species crocus that grow in the wild in Greece and other areas. Add these jewel-toned beauties to your wildflower collection, and you'll enjoy them for years.

Use in front of border, blooms are early but very small and un-noticed unless standing in front of them. Will try another variety next time.

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus or Snow Crocus Bulbs Mix:

In my previous review, I mentioned that I didn't get any purples, only yellow and white. We had a very cold wet weekend, then a bright sunny Monday. When I looked out this morning, there were purple and white blooms all over my lawn, including the dark purple striped Minimus! I guess they just needed the extra rain?

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus or Snow Crocus Bulbs Mix:

I popped these along the front border of a planned bed to add some early color. Most of them seem to be the yellow varieties. No purples and only a couple white. They're very adorable, though- tiny little buds of color right where I need them most. Super easy to plant and totally non-maintenance! I'll probably buy another batch next year to mix into the border on the other side of the bed.

These bulbs are so hardy, they begin to appear right through our massive Chicago snowfalls! A perfect start to the gardening season so early in the year.

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus or Snow Crocus Bulbs Mix:

These great little flowers are good for people who don't like waiting for plants to begin blooming in spring. Mine were blooming in the middle of March and survived a light snowfall. Flowers are tiny but these bulbs bloomed prolifically--easily 4 or more buds per plant. A very cheerful way to end winter. The mix is nice, I didn't get a majority of only one color.

I live in Denver, and we just had a very wet snow fall. As it melted I was thrilled to see the first crocus starting to flower. If they can survive and bloom here, they can do well anywhere.
