These plants are the first things to bloom in my spring garden, beating out my crocuses by well over a week. The only ones I didn't see return in the second year were the yellows, but the blue and purple ones more than made up for the lack. Lovely colors, winter hardy, ridiculously early blooms and easy naturalizers; what could be better?

These came up bright and early in spring, just when I was beginning to think winter would never end. These delivered a promise of spring in February. They faded just as the daffodils started to open up.

The dwarf iris were a snap to plant in fall, hardy enough to survive a zone 3 winter (-30 degrees) and the first flowers to greet me this spring. I will be back for more!

Planted these in an area where I haven't had much success getting anything to grow well. The irises came up before anything else. I should have gotten more for a better burst of color.

I planted the dwarf iris near the walk to the garage so i could see them every time I went to the garage. There's a carpet of color. I think every one of the bulbs rebloomed this spring. I love bulbs that come back each year.

The first to come up are competing with the crocus and daffodils. Color at different times give long lasting enjoyment.
