This hard-to-find native lily is a show-stopper in shaded wildflower gardens. It grows from the northeast all the way south into Georgia and Alabama, and favors swamps, wet meadows and wet woods. So that tells you to plant yours where they won't be flooded, but will have plenty of moisture.

This fabulous lily, when happy, can bloom with as many as 40 flowers on a single plant.

The name, Turks Cap refers to the recurved petals, which someone saw as similar to a turban.

Comments about American Meadows Turk's Cap Lily Bulbs:

I did not buy this lily here but have tried it a few times. It has the delicate beauty often found in species lilies but it also
tempermental. I would do a little research before trying this bulb again. I live in Washington State and it may be the soggy wet winters that do this plant in, otherwise it is beautiful and worth some extra effot.

Felt soft when they arrived and then only one came up and it whithered and died before any blooms. Disappointing, for sure.

        USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

        • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
        • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
