Comments about American Meadows Fritillaria Chequered Lily Bulb Mix:

I really wanted some whites in the mix, but only the purples bloomed. I would happily buy all whites to supplement, but they aren't offered.

Comments about American Meadows Fritillaria Chequered Lily Bulb Mix:

I planted the group of bulbs in my spring flower bed and only one bulb flowered. It is tall and beautiful and strong. I am not sure why the other bulbs failed, but it was disappointing. I had looked forward all winter to seeing the grouping this spring. We had early snow cover in November, but the weather warmed and it rained, melting the snow. It was very cold before the next snow cover. That may have compromised the bulbs.

Comments about American Meadows Fritillaria Chequered Lily Bulb Mix:

These were part of my massive bulb planting effort that took place in fall 2013. The bulbs themselves were rather an odd shape, sort of like a split-open orange. If a white stem sprout hadn't been visible in some of the first ones I handled, I wouldn't have known which end was up! I put these toward the front of the bed running along my garden path and they did very well. Most of mine were the mauve color, but two were white with green checker lines. They do release a lot of seeds in thin-walled pods and I plan to try to sow some of the seeds in other areas because I liked them so much.

Comments about American Meadows Fritillaria Chequered Lily Bulb Mix:

I planted these two years ago in the fall. The first year they sent up some spindly flower stalks that quickly died back. I was sure that I had killed them as I planted them in a part shade with afternoon sun location. Imagine my surprise when this year they shot up several flower stalks that did bloom.

Comments about American Meadows Fritillaria Chequered Lily Bulb Mix:

I love these adorable little flowers. They add so much interest to my North facing bed. They are quite short, so make sure to put them in the front where their checkered bell flowers can be properly admired. Also bears mentioning that when these beauties are first popping up, the foliage looks very much like invading blades of crabgrass. I pulled up two of them before I figured that one out. Good Luck and Happy Planting!
