Description

This will be the biggest thing in your garden – Maybe even the biggest in the neighborhood! The Elephant Ear quickly shoots up big, green spears that unfurl into some of the largest leaves in the plant kingdom. In good soil, the leaves can reach 4 or even 5 feet across. Just one big bulb will create a large leafy plant, like a tropical fountain of green.

Gardeners love this exotic favorite as a screen or as a background for smaller plants and flowers. Always a highlight in any garden, and very easy to grow and care for. Our bulbs are top size, which means up to 10 inches in circumference! Complete planting instructions are included.

Comments about American Meadows Elephant Ear Bulbs - Single Bulb:

This was my first order of Elephant Ears and first time planting. Since my home is for sale, I decided to plant them in containers so I can hopefully take them with me when I sell my home. [...]. I planted them about 2 weeks ago and was amazed how fast they are growing! I am located in sunny southern calofirnia and pretty much anything will grow when we add water so I am excited to see their progress.

Comments about American Meadows Elephant Ear Bulbs - Single Bulb:

The second year the leaves were smaller, but still quite large. It's in a large pot which makes it quite easy to dig up and store for the winter and then replant the folowing spring. It does very well in my mostly shady area. I love it!

Every year I plant elephant ears on my urban patio. This is the first time I purchased them from this retailer. The bulbs are the best I have seen. Large, healthy and very well packed. I look forward to some humongous plants and many compliments from visitors!

These are huge bulbs. I did not expect them to be so big but I was shooting for big plants, so it worked out. They did well once it warmed up enough for them to get growing. All around great experience from American Meadows.

Comments about American Meadows Elephant Ear Bulbs - Single Bulb:

I purchased two bulbs for the purpose of screening my well water pipe. I put each about 1 foot from the pipe and within a couple weeks they were popping up and within six weeks and beginning to hide the pipe.
They are breathtaking in size and color. Especially beneficial how long each leaf lasts.
I had no trouble for over-wintering; I dug each up, used lightweight, though large, pots and kept them indoors. Blooming continued at a slower pace. A few weeks before they could go outside, they began to look a bit weak but upon replanting, one week later they are back to growing fast.

Comments about American Meadows Elephant Ear Bulbs - Single Bulb:

I planted three of these softball-sized bulbs in beds at the edge of my patio on the south side of my house, and they grew like gangbusters. The 2-3 foot long leaves wave enticingly in the slightest breeze, enhancing the tropical look of my outdoor entertaining area.

The only drawback is my climate. I live in Zone 5b, so every fall I have to dig up the elephant ears and store them in my garage until springtime. The root/bulb mass can get very large, so I recommend dividing it up into chunks so you don't hurt your back lifting them.
