Why be satisfied with just the same old "Paperwhites" for indoor bloom? The same "magic" happens with these narcissus--bloom takes a bit longer, but the flowers are bigger, with golden yellow trumpets. Any planter will do. It's easy!

How to grow Indoor Narcissus Almost everyone knows "Paperwhites," the fragrant miniature narcissus on long stems that bloom quickly indoors, much like an amaryllis. (Each bulb produces a "bouquet" of several flowers.) Like the Paperwhites, this narcissus is also from the famous "tazetta" group, and will perform just the same for you. To make indoor pots and bowls, simply arrange the bulbs in a shallow bowl or pot so they don't touch one another. Surround them with pebbles, sand, or even soil, but no soil is really needed. Be sure the bulbs are about half into the planting medium, with the top half sticking up in the clear. Then, just water. Almost instantly, the bulbs will sprout, and in just 10-12 weeks, you'll have a flurry of fragrant daffodils right there on the coffee table.

Indoor narcissus are great for making holiday gifts that will bring weeks and weeks of pleasure during the holidays or anytime during a long winter.

Planting Instruction for your Paperwhite Growing Vase:

Paperwhite Vase

1. Fill glass with water to just beneath the bulb's roots. The water should not touch the bottom of the bulb (see water fill line below).

2. Place bulb in vase.

3. Place the vase in a sunny, warm location. Paperwhites are tropical bulbs and prefer temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. If you place the Paperwhites in a cooler spot (45-55 degrees Fahrenheit) directly after planting for 3 to 4 weeks the stems will stay shorter.

5. Every week for the next weeks add or replace the water in the vase, filling the vase to the fill line so that the bulb itself is not sitting in water.

6. All flowers grow toward the light, to ensure a straight stem turn vase regularly.

7. Plant bulbs in 2 week intervals for a constant display of flowers.

Vase Kit Contains:

1 Glass Vase
1 Paperwhite Bulb that will produce several flowers

Planting Instructions for Paperwhites in soil:

Paperwhite Soil

1. Fill a pot halfway with soil or gravel, set the bulbs gently in the soil and pack more soil around the bulbs leaving the tips visable.

2. Water the bulbs thoroughly, allowing time for the soil to absorb enough water so it is thoroughly soaked.

3. Place your pot in a sunny, warm location. Paperwhites are tropical bulbs and prefer temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. If you place your Paperwhites for 3 to 4 weeks in a cooler place (45-55 degrees Fahrenheit) directly after planting, they generally stay shorter which prevents them from falling over when in full bloom.

5. In 6 to 10 weeks you'll have a mass of pure white, multiple blooming Narcissus in your room. When the plants begin to flower, remove them from direct sunlight for a longer enjoyment.

Comments about American Meadows Paperwhite Bulbs Chinese Sacred Lilies:

I've grown paperwhite narcissus bulbs every winter for years; this is the first I've ordered online. The bulbs were a nice healthy size. I "planted" them in a dish of stones filled with water. Out of eight bulbs, two sprouted roots and stems with a bloom on each. The flowers were all white, with no golden trumpet. I was very disappointed.

Comments about American Meadows Paperwhite Bulbs Chinese Sacred Lilies:

I almost wanted to ask for a refund. I gave the bulbs as Christmas presents to about 10 people and didn't have them all in my possession. Mine were not great. Most recipient feedbacks were not encouraging. It's really disappointing.

Comments about American Meadows Paperwhite Bulbs Chinese Sacred Lilies:

I just recevied this product. The description says bulbs size 15-16cm. I expected the diameter of the bulbs are 15-16cm, but turned out even the perimeters are less than 15-16cm.

I bought this online because they are cheaper compare to those large (>10cm diameter) bulbs I saw in Asian stores. Should I know they are so much smaller, I would have bought those more expensive bulbs instead.

            USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

            • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
            • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
