Flower Bulbs

Gardening at its most simple and elegant.

Your Success GuaranteedWe get a lot of questions about flower bulbs, but most involve when to plant them. Quite simply, "fall" flower bulbs are planted in the fall, grow roots into winter, then sprout and bloom in the spring. These include favorites such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and others. "Spring" flower bulbs are also known as tender bulbs (they don't survive cold ground temperatures); they're planted in the spring and flower throughout the summer. They include dahlias, glads, cannas, calla lilies and others. You can view these products by their planting seasons — Fall Planted Bulbs or Spring Planted Bulbs — or simply use the filters on the left to help you choose.

Imagine these in a window box with pink and white varieties! Gardeners enjoy Begonia blooms throughout the US, although they do act as annuals in colder hardiness zones. We recommend planting these double Begonias in rich soil and giving them a regular feeding. If you don’t have the best soil, you can amend it or plant these beauties in containers, where it is easier to control soil type. Here at American Meadows, we plant Begonias in every shady spot available. They are such a delight to the late season garden!
