Plant Information

Once you've tasted garlic straight from the garden, you'll never use anything else. Delicious! And it's easy to grow--our package comes with detailed instructions for planting and harvesting.

Plant in fall for best results. Separate cloves from garlic bulb and plant pointed end up in a 4" deep hole. Space the cloves 6" apart in row, with 12" between rows. Pinch off any flowers that might develop as although they look nice they consume energy that should be going into the finished bulb size.
AFTERCARE: Store garlic bulbs by roping or hanging in netted bags in a cool, frost free dry spot for use throughout the winter.

Fresh or cooked this is a versatile healthy flavorful vegetable. Good keeper for use throughout the winter. Can also be chopped and frozen for later use.

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
