Plant Information

Vining honeysuckle requires lots of moisture, so be sure to locate yours in a location where it is almost never dries out and has a support on which to climb. Also, be sure it has full sun for at least half the day. Honeysuckle vines, when happy in a moist location with full sun will cover a trellis or wall of up to 144 sq. ft. (12 x 12). If you don't have a trellis, Mandarin makes a beautiful running ground cover or shrub-like mound with its dense production of beautiful deep green leaves and lots of brilliant red flowers. Comments about American Meadows Honeysuckle Vine Mint Crisp:

The plant I received was small but healthy. I planted it near a fence where it could ramble. It started out growing great until one day I noticed that the rabbits had eaten it almost to ground level. I thought it was a gonner but a few weeks latter I saw it was growing again. It is now growing up the fence and I cannot waite until next year to see it bloom.

                USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
