The big cucumber for perfect slicing grows plump straight "cukes" up to 9." Big home garden favorite.

SKU 5CUCG

Plant Information

Developed at Cornell University, the "Marketmore" cucumbers have become the standard for American gardens. Large, straight 9" cucumbers, maturing sooner than the older varieties.

When and Where to Plant: Select a sunny, well drained location and sow seed in the late spring when the soil is warm and all danger of frost is past. For earlier crop start indoors 4-6 weeks before setting out. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist.
Care: Keep soil moist, and feed monthly. Tie vines on trellis to save space.
Harvesting: Pick at any size up to 6-8"/15-20 cm. and before fruit color begins to turn yellow. Pick regularly so fruit will continue to form.

Comments about American Meadows Marketmore Cucumber Seeds:

I am growing these cucumbers in a TowerGarden. The plants themselves are growing great. I have plenty of male flowers and over a dozen female flowers. After manually pollinating multiple times, the cucumbers are not growing. I find that the male flowers yield very little pollen. Frustrated!

          USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

          • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
          • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
