Description
This is one of the latest hybrids of the famous plains native called Purple Coneflower, but better known today by its botanical name: Echinacea.

For years before it was a favorite of the herbal medicine industry, it was always one of the loveliest wildflowers on the plains.

This large pink-to-purple daisy is a mainstay of all well-grown wildflower meadows, and is also a major colormaker in perennial borders.

You can easily the standard version of this great native plant from our seed (See our Wildflower Seed Department) but to save a year or more, and enjoy the hybrid forms, its really easy to plug in these plants.

Comments about American Meadows Echinacea Vintage Wine:

I planted three Echinacea "Vintage Wine" in Spring 2009 on a steep bank with difficult growing conditions. All three plants bloomed the first summer and the large, vibrant flowers seemed to last forever with only an occasional watering. This beautiful variety is one tough cookie in a family of toughies.
