Description
Goblin has been the classic Gaillardia for perennial gardens for decades. The flowers are large, the plant is shorter than the native, and the blooming goes on for months, especially if you remove the fading flowers. A superb color-maker for your border.

The Gaillardias are one of the great glories of American wildflowers, carpeting whole landscapes to the horizon in the plains states and the west. The natives are the famous yellow and white pinwheel bi-colors. In our wildflower seed department, we sell the much-loved annual, Indian Blanket, and the native perennial as well, G. aristata, often called Blanket Flower.

But hybridizers are always anxious to improve native plants, no matter how beautiful they may be. And in this case, they have. Goblin is one of the oldest, and still probably the most popular hybrid, with very large flowers and a long bloom season.

Many other newer hybrids emphasize one color or the other--the red or the yellow. And in very recent years, even the flower form has changed. With Fanfare, we were introduced to Gaillardias with tubular ray petals, each one a miniature flaring trumpet. Now that form is expanded with the exciting new Commotion group. And the stunning new Dakota Reveille has turned the whole flower into a fluffy ball of petals.

All are great garden perennials, tough as oaks, great for color, and as dependable as they come.

Comments about American Meadows Gaillardia Goblin:

I ordered this along with a Burgundy Gaillardia. They have both grown into their bigger pots, but the Goblin is by far the healthier, more robust plant. It is looking a little bedraggled after our long, hot summer but is still producing blooms. I have both plants on an East facing patio that gets sun until about 11:30 am, watering every other day.

Comments about American Meadows Gaillardia Goblin:

When I received this bare-root plant, my expectations for it's first growing season were very low, so I am very surprised by how quickly this plant took off! It rapidly developed vigorous leaves and before I knew it, there were blooms everywhere. It bloomed within three (3) weeks of planting and hasn't stopped at all, with many buds remaining. I am beyond impressed and consider this one of my favorite container plants, with bright, large flowers that last a long time - fantastic!

Comments about American Meadows Gaillardia Goblin:

Very nice plant, it's already 3 times the size and already blooming. Very beautiful flower. The only thing i wish is for the flowers to be bigger, which i think it will happen once it grows more.

I highly recommend this one, it is the only one blooming of the bunch i ordered this spring.... and it was part of my last order.

I also noticed that it is pest resistant, there is something chewing on all of my plants, except for this one.

        Will be getting more.

Comments about American Meadows Gaillardia Goblin:

Warm, rich hues of red, orange and yellow. Big, hardy plants that take off growing the moment they're in the ground. Flowers that seem to appear instantly and shine like the sun. Does that sound like a garden you'd want? Then invite this Goblin to a sunny spot near you! I found this to be a very strong, hardy plant that transplanted easily to a flower bed. No sulking, no acclimatizing: the Goblin got its footing and was off! The flowers are stunning. The variety in shades adds depth and interest to a sunny place. Paired with other warm colors, the Goblin sets off any other yellow, red, or orange. A reliable perennial and a sun-loving flower, offering years of enjoyment ahead!
