It's time to show off your garden filled with American Meadows products!
This hardy group of famous plants is treasured worldwide, native mostly to Europe. Heather is the signature plant of the beautiful, mountainous Scottish highlands, and it's celebrated widely in poetry and song.
The long racemes of bloom last for months starting in late summer. If you have the right conditions, you'll love a rock garden area or border filled with heathers. When you plant, think about Scotland. The mountain soil is rocky and acid, however there is rain almost daily. Heathers must have sun, but also must have regular moisture and absolute drainage. They insist on acid soil, and can be killed by too much nitrogen fertilizer. So baby them the first year, and after that, they'll be as tough and permanent as oaks.
Enter your Zip Code to find your USDA Planting Zone.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
