Siberian Irises are the ones that form elegant clumps of tall deep green sword-like leaves, with flowers on long stems that open above the foliage. With flowers somewhat smaller than the huge Bearded Iris, these are the ones that are the easiest to grow and surely the most hardy. Clumps return dependably each year with more and more flowers. Great landscape plants.

Comments about American Meadows Siberian Iris Butter and Sugar:

So far I'm very pleased (after 5 mos), the iris is growing well (especially for an iris). The leaves are a beautiful healthy blue-green color and hopefully we'll get blooms next year!

Comments about American Meadows Siberian Iris Butter and Sugar:

Had better luck with this than the pink one. Two out of three starts survived. Still too soon to determine the success of the flower. Perhaps if you would sent larger roots than the size you have been offering, survival rates would improve.

      USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

      • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
      • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
