Lungwort
Handsome foliage & flowers make this an ideal groundcover for shade.
Lungworts look best grown in masses as a shady groundcover or combined with hostas, hellebores and ferns in a shady garden. Grown as much for their attractive leaves as for their flowers, lungwort's foliage remains attractive all season as long as the soil isn't allowed to dry out. The genus name Pulmonaria and common name lungwort allude to its historic usage as a remedy for respiratory problems. Lungworts form low-growing clumps that slowly spreads to form a groundcover without being aggressive and overtaking other plants.
