Description
Monkshood often reminds gardeners of delphiniums since the rich blue color is the same. But its much easier to grow. First of all, Monkshood is plenty tall, but shorter than the towering delphiniums that always need staking. This one stands on its own. And its not as brittle as a delphinium, so does a simpler job of adding tall blue flower spikes to your late spring garden. The roots are poisonous.

I purchase this because the pretty blue flowers showing in the picture. However, it turn out to be a very light blue, very disappointed. However, it grows well, so I will give it a 3 star.

Plants are doing beautiful, we have had a very hot and dry summer. The plants have grown great and bloomed better than I expected for first year planting. I am ordering more for a new bed I'm planting.

                  Comments about Common Monkshood:

I love this plant and wanted it in my garden. Unfortunately, it never grew. I suspect that our very hot, dry VA summer was not the best time for planting. However, even with irrigation, none of them survived.

                    Comments about Common Monkshood:

I wanted a plant for the back of my shade garden. No young children around so decided to use this plant with its lovely blue flowers. Do have young grandchildren that visit so I do have to warn them about this plant, however, the leaves when not in bloom and the blooms themselves make it a plant well worth having.
I did need replacement plants since last year's order failed to grow. When I asked for replacements, the service department was prompt and courteous in their reply. The replacement plants were excellent.
