Description
This is one of the most famous and popular Ornamental Grasses worldwide, and no wonder. It is one of the clump-forming decorative grasses, with an upward architectural growth habit. That means it makes a dramatic specimen plant in garden or meadow.

Rising up to about six feet, Feather Reed Grass is famous for waving in the wind, adding motion to the landscape, even with the slightest breeze. The tall elegant feathery blooms, which take on a subtle purplish/pink color when they're new in late spring, mature into tall slender plumes of a warm buff color. These torch-plumes are widely used in dried flower arrangements.

On top of all this, Feather Reed Grass is super winter hardy, and requires almost no care. Its also used very effectively in large containers on patios and terraces.

Comments about American Meadows Feather Reed Grass Karl Foerster:

I love the year around colorful blooms it produces. The rewards are so wonderful with such little care. Not a fussy grass plant at all to care for.

Lovely in group plantings for natural look. Lyrical movement in breeze.
Grows rapidly so plan for that in perennial garden.
Takes full seasonal cycle in NE US to produce "flowers".
