Description
Bring bright, bold color and multi-seasonal interest to your garden with the Elderberry Black Tower.

The Elderberries, Sambucus spp., have always been giant, white-flowering natives with blooms much like Queen Anne's Lace. There is one main species in North America, and another in Europe, both very tall plants. As often happens, the Europeans have made something very special from something very common, with an incredible new hybrid of their species, named Black Lace. This is a spectacular 8 ft. plant with dark maroon foliage, which you might confuse with a very finely-cut Japanese maple. But then, once you see the stunning pink flowers, you'd know this is something else again! This new plant will create a big exotic show in your yard! Be the first in the neighborhood to have one. (By the way, the birds love the berries that follow the bloom.)

Maybe Next Year

By Chuck

from Springfield, VA

Pros

  • It Didn't Die

Cons

  • It Didn't Bloom
  • It Did Not Bloom

Best Uses

  • I have no idea

Comments about Elderberry Black Tower:

I chose American Meadows because I thought I would get a premium product. Not so much. This thing says it will grow to some insane height and width and filled with these beautiful small flowers. I got a 7" green thing that at the very least did not die but is completely underwhelming. I have no idea what will happen next year or in the coming years but if they don't bloom the first couple of years, it would have been nice to know up front.
