Siberian Irises are the ones that form elegant clumps of tall deep green sword-like leaves, with flowers on long stems that open above the foliage. With flowers somewhat smaller than the huge Bearded Iris, these are the ones that are the easiest to grow and surely the most hardy. Clumps return dependably each year with more and more flowers. Great landscape plants.

Comments about American Meadows Siberian Iris Tumble Bug:

Planted it, watered it, but we had an exceptionally cold winter and in the spring it never came up. Sorry but I cannot review other than it was safe when it was delivered and I looked so forward to seeing it but winter was against it.

Comments about American Meadows Siberian Iris Tumble Bug:

These should not be difficult to grow -- have others from other sources that have done quite well. Only 1 survived over the winter, and although I think it will be fine next year, it is not a particularly vigorous plant and certainly has not flowered.

          USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

          • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
          • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
