Sorry to say, my plants did not come up this year. Planted along with day lilies and dalias. Love the plant, I do wish it would have come up. Will have to reorder again in the spring.

Comments about American Meadows Blackberry Lily:

I have been growing this gem in my rock garden for quite a few years now. My favorite part is in the fall when all the seeds come on. They do look like large blackberries! Beautiful!

      wonderful plant

Comments about American Meadows Blackberry Lily:

A friend gave me a small bag of the little black seeds, planted them in September, and by spring - - growing wonderfully! an inch a day. Mid-summer, flowering daily - again and again. It took me over a year to figure out what this plant was (thought it was an iris), and now I know it is a blackberry lily. I saved lots of seeds from the plants and now I am planting them elsewhere in my yard - - behind other plants as they get to be a good 3+ feet in height. Hardy and just lovely. Love them!

      USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

      • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
      • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
