Plant Information

Karley Rose is probably the most famous of the Fountain Grasses, due to the lovely rose-colored plumes, which rise up to three feet in midsummer, and then persist into the fall. This beauty is useful in full sun or partial shade. Karley Rose adds dramatic effect in perennial gardens, general landscaping, or wildflower meadows. A great ornamental grass!

The perennial fountain grasses are a prized group for landscaping accents, and they live up their name. They are mound-forming creating a fountain-like focal point wherever they grow, with a spectacular bloom in midsummer.

Ornamental Grasses provide texture, uniqueness, and beauty that will set off your favorite blooming flowers. Not only a dynamic element to your garden, Ornamental Grasses are extremely easy to grow, maintain, and will provide additional interest by evolving in seasons while the rest of your garden may be resting.

I hesitated to buy this beautiful ornamental grass because it was described as "adaptable" to clay soil; but it is as though the plant THRIVES in it! After planting in April it grew slowly, and I wasn't expecting much growth or bloom for the first year. But in 4 month's time it has grown into an attention getting beauty!

Comments about American Meadows Fountain Grass Karley Rose:

I am so happy with this plant! It has grown beautifully & the colors are outstanding! The only warning I would offer is it's huge! A bit bigger than I thought it would be so I will be moving it to another location. I do intend to order a couple more for other areas of my lawn.

Comments about American Meadows Fountain Grass Karley Rose:

The Karley Rose is a lovely plant. My daughter-in-law has 4 planted in their yard near San Francisco and I was very impressed with them. I live in Southern Oregon and found out they can grow in Oregon also so I have ordered 2 from American Meadows.
Each Karley Rose has lovely deep burgandy plumes that sit on top of the grasslike plant. They bloom all summer long and even into spring. They are delightful to watch as they sway with the breeze and add attractive color to a yard. They do self seed so if you don't want them to spread, make sure to pull out the new "volunteers" when they arrive.
I am also impressed with American Meadows and the professionl way they treat their customers. Thank you American Meadows for having great plants!

Comments about American Meadows Fountain Grass Karley Rose:

Karley Rose Fountain Grass has been a great addition to my yard. It spreads quickly, so be careful where you plant it. It's tall, and stays true until after the first frost. You might want to plant it someplace where it won't tumble over after a rain, blocking some of your sidewalk. That is the only downfall that I can find with it. The color is really pretty too. For this area it's nice that you don't have to plant it every year. Thanks American Meadows!

                    USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                    • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                    • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
