Description
This old-time classic garden ornamental creates a well-shaped plant of leaves about 4 ft. tall, and flowering stalks that usually reach about seven feet. Coppery red plumes open in mid-autumn, creating a great show in the garden.

About Miscanthus hybrids: Our friend, Jack Scheper, the plant expert who runs Floridata.com, tell us that there are now hundreds of cultivars of this handsome grass. He says What they have in common are a clump forming habit (never forming turf), in which the leaves grow up then cascade out and down like a fountain; foliage that turns various shades of gold or bronze in autumn and holds up well throughout the winter; erect flowers that shine in the summer sun, then turn soft and fluffy in winter, and persist beautifully in dried arrangements; and a preference for sunny positions in the landscape.

For the price I expected more mature plant. It will take several years before the product reaches the size stated in the product description.

Comments about American Meadows Maiden Grass Gracillimus - Plant:

This is a wonderful grass if you have the space for it. It's movement & sound when the wind blows is wonderful. Just remember to wear gloves and long sleeves when working with or around this grass or you can end up with cuts that are similar to paper cuts. You most likely wouldn't even know you have them until later. I found out that if you don't completely cut down the old dead grass before new growth comes it may not fill in the middle. Instead it will be kind of bare in the middle with all its blades around the outside. This grass looks beautiful in both dried and fresh flower arrangements. It also is beautiful in winter especially when there is snow on the ground, very picturesque. I also find it to be a fairly fast growing grass. What I planted was only tiny tuft of grass and by the following year it was quite substantial (I think). Over all I think if you are looking for a large grass with interest then this is your plant.
