Royal Candles is well-named. The Veronicas create some of the best blues in the flower kingdom, and this one is royal.

I love Veronicas. In my perennial borders, they have always added great vertical interest with elegant spires of color. They bloom for a long time, and are a snap to grow. In addition, many of the species are native American wildflowers, making the hybrids at home in all our gardens. (Many call them by their other common name, Speedwell.)

Comments about American Meadows Veronica Royal Candles:

Very slow to grow, The first one i received was dead. I got to admit, customer service was great and received another one promptly.

The second one i received looked in good condition, but it is the same size of when i planted it more than a month ago. It's really not doing well. I don't think it will make it.

Too bad as i was looking forward to it.

    USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

    • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
    • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
