Description
Everybody's favorite woodland wildflower, this one is a must in any shady garden. As many gardeners know, the violets expel many seeds after their bloom, and if they are in a perennial garden or other formal area, they can become a solid spreading mat. In woodland gardens, this is usually desirable. Just a few plants will seed themselves into quite a patch in just a couple of years. And then, even after their bloom, the glossy green groundcover formed by their leaves is attractive.

Struggling, but surviving

        Comments about Wild Blue Violet:

I planted these last fall, and most came up this spring, but haven't really grown much or bloomed. I think I may have planted them in the wrong spot, and will try moving them to a more shady location.

              Comments about Wild Blue Violet:

Of the three plants only one grew. I made the mistake because this doesn't appear to like my zone 8. My fault for not checking zone!
