Description
Like a gleaming jewel, this is one of the most treasured dwarf irises worldwide. The plants may be small (about 6"), but as you can see in the photos, the flowers are large and flashy. Its important to plant these little treasures close to a pathway, or in some other area where larger plants wont hide them. They like partial shade in the south, but are happy in full sun in the north. Either place, they need plenty of moisture and when happy, will spread by above-ground rhizomes and form large mats of bloom. This is a classic, often hard-to-find North American plant, great for wild gardens.
