Plant Information

Purple Aster (novae-belgii) grows to about 3 - 5 feet with large, blue/purple blooms and is native to North America. It is also commonly referred to as Michaelmas Daisy. Purple Aster prefer moist thickets, meadows or lightly shaded woodlands. It adapts well to cultivated gardens in well-drained moisture retentive soils preferably in full sun. Immune to bunny chewing and attracts all forms of pollinators for late season nectar.

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
