Comments about American Meadows Proven Wildflower Seed Mix for the Southwest - 1/4 LB:

I bought several wildflower mixes (including this one) to choke out the tumble weed and goat-heads that had taken over my garden area last few years. They are doing a great job and re-seeding, which is fantastic. I really like the look of the wildflowers so I'll be devoting an area to them once the garden gets going.

I did not think wildflowers of Southwest region in the US would grow in the desert of Kuwait (in the other side of the world) with no experience and no care or maintenance. I am very happy with this experience and now I am planning for next season with better vision.

We live at about 3500' in the mountains of San Diego County, a thriving center of 260 people called Sunshine Summit. These seeds seem to thrive well up here even on our meager rainfall 10 to 15" a year. We get snow several times a year, but these seeds always seem to pop up and reseed the next year. In a dry mountain area like ours, it's refreshing to see a riot of color at our place compared to the surrounding area.

I bought several lbs of the wildflower mix and gave them to my brother in law who owns a farm. He planted them all along the boarder of his outdoor living area. You can not believe the fantastic show!! The fragrance in the evening is outrageous. He recieves all the compliments and I get all the credit. We have just purchased a small farm with a partner. Our partner wants several lbs of seed after seeing the fantastic show at my brother-in laws farm. I am also ready to plant and out do the compition. The great thing of it all is these seeds are growing in the Middle East. In Kuwait! people have never seen anything like it and the have been coming back every season now for three years straight. I highly recomend wildflower seeds as they are easy to plant and the reward is so great.

I planted these seeds in the late fall, and covered with just a bit of soil,(to keep the birds at bay.) I put them in my small "wildflower garden," in the middle of the back yard.
So far, so good. I think I spread them a bit heavy, as they're so thick coming up that I'm hoping they have room to grow. Most haven't started blooming yet, but I'm looking forward to a riot of color this summer!

I planted the seeds by scattering them and then walking on them. Waited. Then, when weather was right, a steady bloom of brightly colored flowers continued to bloom all spring and summer -- even into the fall and winter. Some resprouted the next spring. It is best to keep the birds away.

Wonderful Product. "Save the Species". You hear so often how native animals and insects are vanishing. Well I suppose it to be because Genetic Grass and fertilizer are not attractive for them. Since we have planted "Native" we have gotten back species of bird and insect not seen in years, it is wonderful. The seed quality and the ease of which everything reseeds year after year is top notch. We plant in fall for best results. Our altitude is 2500' so we do get snow flurries in winter. If you want to make a possitive change to your local Ecosystem, Put away the herbacides and insectacides and plant "American Meadows" native seeds.
