Description
"Tendergreen" Bush Beans give you two crops plus lovely flowers: Blooms are beautiful. Young pods are used like snap beans, then mature pods give you lima beans.

When and Where to Plant: Select a sunny location and plant when all danger of frost is passed and the soil has warmed. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist.
Care:
Harvesting: 75-80 days to green crop stage; 110-115 days to full maturity (as lima beans) and longer to reach dry stage.

best bush bean variety i've grown

By gardendaddy

from Knoxville, TN

Pros

  • Excellent For Canning
  • Great tasting
  • Heavy producer
  • Stringless

Cons

  • Blow Over In Storms

Best Uses

  • Canning
  • Freezing

Comments about Tendergreen Bush Bean Seeds:

I've grown this variety for two years now and they do great for us. This year we canned 30 quarts and froze another 6 off two 20' rows from our small garden. They grow quick and start producing early, sometimes they'll produce so many bean pods they'll get heavy and blow over in storms. They have purple blooms and stringless pods that stay tender long after being picked without getting rubbery. I pick 3 runs off my plants then let them go to seed which I save for the next year. I haven't found a better bush bean for my area, so I'll be growing these from now on.

Comments about Tendergreen Bush Bean Seeds:

DIRECT SOWED IN MID MAY-EARLY JUNE, GREW FAST, THOUGHT I WOULD GET A BIG YEILD BUT DIDN'T HAPPEN, BLOSSOMS FELL OFF, PODS CURLED, YELLOWED, MOST WERE ONLY THREE TO FOUR INCHES LONG WITH ONE OR TWO BEANS PER POD, BITTER TASTING, TOUGH AFTER COOKING, AND THE PLANT WAS NOT BUSHY AT ALL, IT GREW ALL GANGLY AND VINEY AND LAID ON THE GROWN SO THAT I HAD PUT RODS UP AND TIE THEM UP LIKE TOMATOES. WILL NOT GROW THEM AGAIN...GONNA TRY DIFFERENT VARIETY NEXT YEAR...
