SKU 2CARROTG
This is the classic cooking carrot that originated in the area of the city of Nantes, France, and has been a staple of good American gardens for decades. It gives you even sizing and bright rich color, along with dependably great carrot taste.

When and Where to Plant: Select a sunny location with light porous soil. Cultivate deeply and plant in early spring as soon as soil can be worked, repeating every 2-3 weeks until mid-summer. Fall planting recommended in mild winter areas. Sow seed sparingly, firming soil over row.
Care: Keep soil moist, weed free and apply vegetable food every 4 weeks.
Harvesting: Begin pulling when finger size.

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
