Plant Information

Also called "scallions," these thin green onions can be planted several times, every 15 days or so. The last crop can stay in the ground all winter.

When and Where to Plant: Select a sunny, well drained location and sow seed as soon as the ground can be worked. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed. For early crop start seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before planting outdoors. In frost-free regions plant in fall for spring harvest.
Care: Keep soil weed free and feed every 6-8 weeks.
Harvesting: Harvest as needed as they only keep 1-2 weeks..

Comments about American Meadows White Bunching Onion Seeds:

THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME FOR GROWING ONIONS OF ANY SORT AND I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THIS. THOUGHT THEY WOULD GROW FASTER BUT I WASN'T SURE HOW LONG IT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE. BUT I TOOK WHAT I GOT AND JUST STORED THE YEILD IN SMALL FREEZER BAGS UNTIL I CAN USE THEM.

          USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

          • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
          • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
