The Crimson Red Rhubarb has one of the best flavors. Make lots of tasty pies, jams and sauces with easy-to-grow Rhubarb. (Rheum rhabarbarum)

Mature Plant Size 24-48" tall, Space 36-48" apart
Size Package of 1
SKU 2RHUB
Keep crowns in a cool area prior to planting and do not allow them to dry out. Plant in early spring once your ground is thawed; making it workable without getting muddy. Your rhubarb crowns are pieces of mature roots with new buds. Place the crowns deep enough so that they are covered with 2" of soil. Space them 2 to 3 feet apart in the row.
AFTERCARE: Immediately remove any seed stalks that appear as they reduce the vigor of the plant. Keep your rhubarb patch free of weeds and divide rhubarb every 6 to 8 years to maintain top production.

Rhubarb is the ultimate pie ingredient; tart and colorful often combined with strawberries for a special spring treat. Most popular in pies, sauces and jellies.

Comments about American Meadows Rhubarb Crimson Red:

I purchased four crowns from American Meadows, only one grew. In the past I purchased 9 painted trilliums from American Meadows, none grew, American Meadows replaced them with nine new ones, they did not grow either. I no longer do business with American Meadows.

Comments about American Meadows Rhubarb Crimson Red:

How can I judge when the product must be coming by mule train or something. August is too late.

When I planted it in good soil, I waited for weeks with no results. I dug up the plant and it was rotten.

    USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

    • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
    • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
