Description

Acorn Squash is super versatile. Most cooks enjoy cutting them in half, adding a good stuffing and perhaps a glaze to each half, then baking and serving the brimming hot "whole halves" to each lucky diner. A New England favorite with maple glaze.

By the way, even the seeds and blossoms are edible here. Save and dry your Acorn squash seeds, then serve them as salted snacks, like sunflower seeds.

When and Where to Plant: Select sunny location (will tolerate light shade) and plant in late spring when soil is warm and danger of frost is past. Cultivate and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed.
Care: Water heavily and frequently. Feed every 3-4 weeks.
Harvesting: Allow fruit to remain on vine until mature. Pick before frost, leaving part of stem attached. Store in a warm, dry place.
