Here's another stunner. This little beauty has unique striping on each outside petal--dark red on pure yellow. It's another gem for any wild bulb collection. This is a true wild variety, but has a similar appearance to a cultivar named 'Gypsy Girl.'

These are the ones called 'Snow Crocus' for obvious reasons. They bloom well before the Dutch Crocus, so for a long season of crocus bloom, plant them both. They work almost exactly the same. Unlike the Dutch crocus group of hybrids, these are true 'wild bulbs'--species crocus that grow in the wild in Greece and other areas. Add these jewel-toned beauties to your wildflower collection, and you'll enjoy them for years.

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus Bulbs Fuscotinctus:

These were dainty, charming, bright spots along one section of the border -- until the rabbits (and their 45-degree angle bite marks) had them for brunch. Beware! Get out your favorite deterrant!

      • Love It In The Lawn

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus Bulbs Fuscotinctus:

The flowers came just as they were pictured. They bloom so early, that they are dormant by the time the lawn needs to be mowed. I am confident that they will spread like the species crocus I had in previous residence [Only those were only shades of violet; bright yellow is such a treat.]

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus Bulbs Fuscotinctus:

I put these bulbs in my lawn so that I can see them from my back porch, where I sit everyday to relax.
Once they are in the ground, I don't have to do anything. They are coming up already and will not disappoint me next year!

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus Bulbs Fuscotinctus:

Love these little yellow flowers popping up when it's still cold out...but they're so tiny you have to be looking for them to see that they're really there. Didn't realize they would be this small.

            USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

            • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
            • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
